Very thought provoking information. Brings to mind the possibility to really study how linguistics and the spoken and written word has evolved in our history and being applied or not applied into our future. Bringing the human perspective into the realm of prompting and how that will become the last bastion of linkage within the future of Intelligence generation; either artificial or human knowledge. (Just a thought) Much respect on the post and daily information. Strongwork.

I worry about AI’s sycophancy (and our increasing time spent conversing/interacting with it) making those essential and much more real, human conversations that much more difficult.

This nicely summarises why Zuck was making those really creepy predictions that there’s market demand for 16 friends per person and the average American has 3

i generally agree with most things you write here but few ppl if any want frictionless friendship from a bunch of AI agents. ppl ideate with chargpt and models to think out loud but their goal is ultimately to share those refined ideas with their friends, co-workers, customers, etc. some do have such parasocial relationships with the models but these are the minority . the real that meta faces is irrelevancy from their monolithic sameness in enshittification of all their apps. kids dont make facebooks and soon they will also not be making instagrams because they're just not cool. theyre cooked no matter what because they extract value from users without providing them much in the way of actual benefits to their daily lives. when 2/5 reels are add and you never see anything from your friends on fb whats the point of continuing to use them?

This is an interesting concept. Personally, I have found systems like ChatGPT infinitely more useful than average human interaction. It's not a replacement for meaningful interaction by any means. However, the standard of interaction with AI systems (if you take the time to learn using them effectively) provides an exponentially more productive thought pipeline.

In my personal opinion, as someone with a lot of time to spend with these systems.

Pre-genAI, Facebook setup a world of projections, thinking you were keeping up with people or getting to know them, but unless you have some irl/real time interactions, it's all shallow. Of course, it provides some amount of value and perhaps depth. Now you can go 1:1 with LLM of choice but also have time for irl things
