advice expires faster than milk now
it used to work.
you’d ask someone older, wiser, more settled.
they’d give you a map.
you’d follow it.
more or less, it got you there.
not anymore.
today, maps age like milk.
the advice you got two years ago is irrelevant.
six months ago, archived.
the world moved.
you blinked.
it’s already different.
your mentor says “get a stable job” but the job market is a glitching simulation.
your married friend says “just settle down” but the dating pool is a collapsing nft floor.
your favorite thread says “build in public” but the algorithm already forgot your name.
by the time advice hits your ears,
the terrain it was built for has been paved over.
this is a reality drift.
the world now updates faster than language.
wisdom can’t keep up.
it lags.
that’s why most advice feels hollow now.
why you hear it, nod, & feel nothing.
because it’s time-shifted.
it was true, once.
for someone.
somewhere.
in a version of the world that no longer exists.
& the world gets archived at the speed of light now.
so if you actually want to survive this velocity,
you need to stop taking maps.
& start building a radar.
tune your antenna.
feel what’s shifting now.
what’s accelerating?
what’s crumbling?
what are people not saying, but clearly sensing?
sensitivity > certainty.
momentum > memory.
the game is basically noticing when the rules stop applying.
read the thread.
listen to the podcast.
but before you absorb it, ask: does this advice even belong to this timeline?
if not,
toss it.
feel instead.
Toss the map. Tune the radar. Dance with the ever-changing current. Breathe.
Well written, and I don't disagree with anything you said--but I also think most "wisdom" and advice that comes from people "older, wiser, more settled" these days is empty because those people, though perhaps older and more settled, aren't in fact wise. As a matter of fact, many older people nowadays seem to be fools. (Not sure why . . . I do feel like there was a time when the majority of them weren't--just like there was once a time when hordes of drug-numbed addicts didn't inhabit acute swathes of major cities). And those most interested in dishing out advice are often the least worthy of giving it! Indeed, the world changes in the blink of an eye these days. But I think true wisdom will always stand the test of time.
